Mission Statement

The mission of the Center for Energy Research and Technology (CERT) is to facilitate North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University becoming the pre-eminent leader in interdisciplinary energy related research, development and training.

The Center is committed to enhancing the quality of education provided to under-represented minorities in preparation for energy related careers regardless of the discipline(s) the students pursue their training in.

The center is also committed to fostering linkages among national institutions of higher learning, private sector and public sector interests at the local, state and national levels. These commitments are consistent with the University's student population and other stakeholder interests.

Vision Statement

The Center for Energy Research and Technology seeks to become an acknowledged leader and the focal point for building-related energy research and technology transfer in North Carolina and the Southeastern United States. The Center will foster interdisciplinary research among university faculty and students, federal laboratory scientists, industry-based engineers, and energy managers.

The technology transfer role of the Center will include workshops, seminars, and demonstration projects designed to move the new technologies from the laboratory to the built environment.

The culmination of these activities will be increased regional economic growth fostered by the development, adoption, and effective use of new energy efficient technologies in buildings.
